Rhinoplasty, or surgery to reshape the nose, is one of the most common of all plastic surgery procedures. (Another common term for this is “nose job.”) Rhinoplasty can reduce or increase the size of your nose, change the shape of the tip or the bridge, narrow the span of the nostrils, or change the angle between your nose and your upper lip. It may also correct a birth defect or injury, or help relieve some breathing problems.
What is ETHNIC NOSE RESHAPING – ETHNIC RHINOPLASTY?
Most internet savvy patients already know that “rhinoplasty” is the medical term used to describe a nose job. Ethnic nose reshaping, or ethnic rhinoplasty, is a surgical procedure to create a more natural looking appearance for non-Caucasian noses. Dr. Bennett C. Yang is one of Washington DC’s Leading experts using his extensive knowledge by taking extra care, attention and close detail while providing ethnic nose surgery. This helps to achieve a more aesthetic nose while retaining your ethnic identity. Skin types and appearances vary depending upon an individual’s ethnic makeup. Many patients of diverse ethnicities choose to get a nose reshaping for many personal reasons, but do not want to lose the important ethnic identity of their culture. Dr. Yang uses proven surgical approaches combined with years of experience to give the patient a new nose without visible or prominent scarring.
This surgery is typically performed under anesthesia. The procedure can take 1-2 hours to complete. The rhinoplasty begins with an incision under the nose. Careful construction of the incision allows an excellent overall cosmetic outcome with minimal scarring. Next the bony and cartilage part of the nasal structure is reconstructed to create an aesthetic balance to match the patients facial features and goals. In some cases, where a larger nose is desired, Dr. Bennett C. Yang will add an implant or cartilage graft to augment the nasal shape. At the end of the process, sutures are placed inside and outside the nose, tape and an external splint are applied.
Most patients will have minimal pain from surgery. After nose surgery, you will see swelling and bruising which is common. Dr. Yang recommends one week off of from work and a full month out of the gym for recovery. Rhinoplasty results are seen immediately, after swelling and bruising heal. The final result can take a full year to heal internally.
