Most thigh lifts are not just removing your excess fat. Liposuction alone can make a world of difference in the appearance of your skin, if you have good elasticity. Unfortunately, in most cases skin elasticity is generally is poor, so a combination of liposuction and thigh lift techniques may be the solution.
Inner thigh lifts are performed using incisions located over the inner thigh, hidden in the groin crease. Outer thigh and Brazilian butt lifts are done with incisions extending from the groin around the back. All of the incision scars associated with these thighplasty procedures can be hidden by bathing suits, and most scars fade away with time.
Massive weight loss options all have one thing in common, they leave all patients with a lot of excess skin. The bitter irony is as your weight drops and your health improves, your skin doesn’t seem to adjust to the new you.
In most cases, excess skin looks unpleasant and make you appear larger than you actually are and sometimes older. Loose, flapping skin around the thighs can result in rashes and bruising caused by rubbing. Other areas suffer from these similar problems. Many patients report that their hanging skin affects their ability to comfortably perform day-to-day activities such as jogging, playing with their children and other forms of exercise. Finally, excess skin acts as a constant reminder of the heavier person they once were.
The best candidates for our thigh lift procedures are patients who want to tighten and smooth the shape of their thighs. You must be in good health, maintaining a stable body weight, and fully understanding of their thighplasty procedure’s risks and realistic expected outcomes.
If you have tried fitness and weight loss and still have not achieved your goals for firmer thighs, more youthful-looking and more proportionate to your overall body image, this maybe the answer. The thigh lift procedure is performed for patients who have sagging or rubbing in the upper thigh area. This is typical if you have lost significant amounts of weight. If you feel that your upper legs do not feel as tight as you would like, Dr. Bennett C. Yang can help.
A thigh lift surgical procedure takes approximately two hours to perform. A typical thigh lift includes liposuction of the upper thigh and inner thigh area, followed by direct skin excision of the upper and inner thigh area.
After your thigh lift surgery, bruising and swelling are to be expected, as well as a tight feeling in the thighs. You may have a drain in place for a few days for the removal of any fluid buildup, though this is usually not needed.
Most patients take two weeks off work to recover. You may need to take more time off if your work requirements are strenuous.
**Please note: some of our patient before and after surgery images may have been altered to remove identifying tattoos and other marks by request of the patient. No other alterations were performed.
It’s important to be healthy before and after surgery. Eating well, NOT smoking are key factors in having a successful outcome. If you have any medical conditions, preoperative testing or evaluation by your primary care MD may be required before being cleared to have surgery. Thigh lifts are done under full general anesthesia in a fully licensed out patient surgery center. The procedure takes about 4-5 hours to complete depending on the complexity of the thigh lift. Most patients will need 2 weeks off of work for recovery and about 1-2 months out of the gym. The results are immediate. There is some bruising and swelling initially. Patients will need to have compression for the first 6 weeks after surgery to help control swelling. Light massage is also recommended after surgery to aid with healing.
