A neck lift surgery consists of a combination of procedures, helping to change the appearance of your neck. A Cervicoplasty removes the excess skin, a Platysmaplasty tightens the muscles under your chin, while Liposuction removes any excess fat. Most of the time, neck lift surgery is part of a lower facelift operation, but it can also be performed independently on patients, where the jowl and jaw line are not a concern.

When considering a neck lift, it is important to keep in mind, the harmonious relationship between your face and neck. In some cases, patients tend to just be focused on the loose, hanging skin under their chin without realizing that the loss of facial fullness has affected all areas of their face. If there is excess skin below and in front of the ear combined with a prominent jowl, neck lift surgery alone will not give them an overall youthful result. Dr. Yang specializes in creating more natural looking results by evaluating your entire face and neck, as many patients who have excess skin in their neck in addition to the loss of elasticity of the skin, may need a combination of a facelift surgery along with neck lift surgery.
During your consultation with Dr. Yang, he will provide instructions for you on how to prepare for your surgery. Most of the time, you will need to avoid certain medications that act as blood thinners and could cause increased bleeding. If you smoke, it is recommended to stop for a four-week period. Two weeks before your surgery and two weeks after to insure proper healing occurs.
You will need to take off at least two weeks from work following your neck lift surgery. Extra pillows for sleeping to prop up your head during the first week after your procedure may be needed. It is also a good idea to have someone stay with you for at least the first 24 hours.
